Australian designer Grant Featherston designed the Featherston Ottoman in 1951 in his Contour Series of works. He designed—and patented—numerous versions of the Contour Chair, the shapes of which were essays in biomorphic silhouette and amoebic profile. the most popular model, the r152, was widely published in Australian home magazines. the line also included settees and dining chairs. The organic shape of this modern classic icon infuses an element of relaxation to your space.

Grant Featherston

Grant Featherston was born in Geelong, Victoria in 1922 and was considered one of Australia’s best known designers. His furniture has win many Good Design Awards. Before serving the army, he was a self-taught Australian designer who worked in lighting and glass panels before specializing in furniture. His works have been featured in numerous museum exhibits and his modernist chairs, which had been featured in prominent Australian galleries such as the Peter Bray Gallery, are highly collectable works. His work has been featured in several museum retrospectives of post-war furniture and his designs still inspire modern designers of today.
